THE FISHING

A typical day

We will launch the boat around mid morning and fish through till sunset, giving you a min of 8 hours on the water,

You will be working live baits close into the margins as we gently drift down the river, this is the best and one of the most exciting

ways of catching these huge cats as you see your float start to go erratic as the bait fish panics and your heart starts pumping,

then the float disappears under the water and line pours off your reel, you strike and your rod bends right over, nearly being wrenched

from your hands as the cat lunges and makes a run for the nearest snag,

These runs can be well over 100 yards and fights can last up to half an hour or more,

As the cat tires, and they do put up one hell of a fight, and comes to the boat, I will glove the catfish and bring it into the boat straight

onto the custom made weigh sling, take out the hooks, which are barbless, this causes less damage to the cats mouth and can be

taken out easily and quickly with less stress on the fish,

Then quickly weighed using 240lb Reuben Heaton scales and take the pictures for you, I use a top of the range 12m pixel digital camera.

Then the cat is put back in the weigh sling and carefully lifted back into the water, we let the cat recover a bit before it is ready,

then release it too fight another day,

This process only takes a few minutes so putting minimal stress on the fish,

If the weather is windy and makes drifting impossible we will anchor up in known hot spots and wait till the cats come to us,

All live bait is supplied by us, either mullet, crucian carp or eels.

A packed lunch is supplied and there are plenty of cold drinks to quench your thirst,

Do remember to bring a hat, sun cream, mosquito repellant and light water proofs just in case it rains.
